I loved the ‘69 1/2 Road Runner that I had, what a great car. So…if one 440-6 is good than two must be better! I traded the 1969 Green Road Runner for this true “M Code” A12 Dodge Superbee. This Superbee had spent its early existence as a drag car in the Carolinas, campaigning as “Little Thirsty”. When asked how it ran, owner Wyman Collie supposedly said “great, but it’s a little thirsty!” Hence the name.

One of only a handful of A12 cars known to have less than a 1000 miles on the odometer, having earned most of it’s miles 1/4 mile at a time. With the car came the pit passes, time slips and copies of a notebook all detailing the Bee’s race history. The Bee was also Galen Govier certified.

It was a barn find by Le Hodge from Hodge Restorations, who had gotten to know the Collie family and eventually brought the car out of their barn to restore it. I was the 3rd or 4th owner after Le. As expected Le and crew did a great job restoring it while keeping hints of the potent race car it had been.

I enjoyed the car but we parted ways as I moved on to the Charger 500. The ‘Bee eventually ended up back with Le who took the car the rest of the way back to its original racing configuration with headers, the correct lettering, stickers and wheels. Le drives it regularly as part of his collection.

Along with my ownership pictures you can see several of the car when originally raced and one prior to its restoration, also a picture of how it looks today sitting at Hodge Restorations (last pic).
